The Vitra Design Museum opens a new exhibition space. In the future this will be the zone in which the design museum hosts contemporary and experimental exhibitions. Like the museum’s main building, this facility was designed by Frank Gehry. The first exhibition at the Vitra Design Museum Gallery is on the Italian designer Ettore Sottsass. With the title Ettore Sottsass – Enamels, and the curating of Fulvio & Napoleone Ferrari, the show offers an overview of works seldom previously seen, including the enamel decorations of the 1950s and their relative drawings. The exhibition also presents an interesting accompaniment to the show at the main museum, “Zoom. Italian design and the photography of Aldo & Marirosa Ballo”, which includes other works by Sottsass. www.design-museum.de.
