The installation by Benedetta Tagliabue presents innovative experimentation on architecture as fabric

16th International Architecture Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia

26 May – 25 November 2018

The installation Weaving Architecture by Benedetta Tagliabue – Miralles Tagliabue EMBT, sponsored by the American Hardwood Export Council (AHEC), presents innovative experimentation on architecture as fabric, using American red oak and fiberglass.

The installation is composed of various elements intertwined on two levels: the upper level is made with modules of American red oak, while the lower level has steel modules. Both are woven with fiberglass in different colors to soften the visual effect and to blur the boundaries created by the structure.

Weaving Architecture is the latest episode of a voyage Benedetta Tagliabue began with AHEC-American Hardwood Export Council over two years ago, to explore the potential of American wood species.
