The new Security Center, the control area for cameras and sensors in the Philips Hue app, can offer even more advanced features for users on a paid subscription plan. Also announced were the launches of a new generation of Philips Hue Festavia indoor and outdoor light strings and an update that will make Philips Hue lights compatible with the Matter standard.

A watchful eye on your home

Philips Hue Secure cameras feature 1080p HD video transmission with night vision, allowing you to monitor your home and receive real-time motion notifications. They deter intruders by combining light and sound alarms, and activate two-way talk mode, for example to tell a courier where to leave a parcel or greet a passing friend. They feature end-to-end encryption by default, ensuring the privacy of videos, snapshots and images recorded in real time. Suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, Philips Hue Secure cameras are available in wired and battery-operated versions, in black and white.

The new Security Center in the Philips Hue app

The Philips Hue app now features the Security Center, an area dedicated to controlling the security systems of your smart home. When you receive a notification, simply click on it to open the app. From the action screen, you can manually trigger an alarm that makes the lights flash and the Secure camera siren sound, or call the local authorities or a trusted person. Using the Philips Hue app, you can customise the camera settings by creating dark areas, where video remains private, or activity areas, where motion notifications are blocked, useful for busy pavements in front of the house.

Shedding light on safety

"As a world leader in intelligent lighting, we know that light plays a key role when it comes to security. Having introduced innovations such as Philips Hue motion sensors and automation that simulates presence, we are now expanding our offering with a full range of home security solutions suitable for everyday life," explains Jasper Vervoort, Business Leader Philips Hue at Signify. "By integrating our smart lighting system with Secure cameras and contact sensors and new app features, we offer a unique security system that helps users protect their home through light."

Live the party with Philips Hue Festavia

A new generation of the popular Philips Hue Festavia light strings for indoors and outdoors will soon be available. Thanks to these light strings, you can create a special atmosphere with colourful light effects both inside and outside the home, for example during the holiday season or on other special occasions such as parties and outdoor barbecues. The new light strings are available in three sizes: 100 LEDs on an 8-metre cable, 250 LEDs on a 20-metre cable and 500 LEDs on a 40-metre cable. In addition, three new lighting effects designed for Festavia will be available in the Philips Hue app: Prisma, Scintillio and Opale.

Upgraded to Matter standards

All Philips Hue users will benefit from Matter interoperability thanks to a Philips Hue Bridge software update available from September 2023. With the launch of this update, users will see the experience of connecting their Philips Hue system with other Matter-compatible smart home devices and apps simplified.
