A labyrinthine path that invites a sensory and contemplative experience. And to investigate the meaning of oriental architecture

COURTYARD OF HONOUR, UNIVERSITY OF MILAN - A project with a strong conceptual and symbolic value translates into a physical model inviting a sensory and contemplative experience. And a journey into the meaning of Oriental architecture.

With the project Travelogue on Mountain - Pan Yuan: Momentality Unfold, the Chinese designer Wu Bin - W.DESIGN guides visitors along a space-time journey exploring the profound meaning of Oriental architecture.

Made with Yardcom's lightweight and eco-friendly materials, it is a labyrinthine path marked and bounded by long sheets of DuPont® Tyvek® paper, positioned at regular intervals, leading to the heart of the installation where there is a body of water.

The wind and the passing of people flutter the papers, while the natural light modifies the visual effect depending on the time of day. The aim of the project is to offer visitors a sensory and contemplative experience within the architectural structure: a different vantage point for viewing the surrounding environment, where speed and perspectives change, as do perceptions. Walking between the rows of translucent and iridescent paper, you find yourself redefining your own space in relation to that of other people.

The installation is placed on a platform that can be accessed by two walkways on either side of the Courtyard of Honor. Designed by Wu Bin - W.DESIGN, it consists of 50 mm x 50 mm square section tubes and four- and five-way connectors. Sheets of DuPont® Tyvek® paper are arranged on the metal framework. In the evening, LED lights positioned along the route illuminate it.

The production is due to the strong support of Yardcom, a brand specializing in customized outdoor living spaces. Its philosophy fosters coexistence and symbiosis between people and nature, in keeping with the design of the work. The project was carried out with the support of Interni China.
