Three creative, vivid and fresh ideas to communicate projects in progress. From collages with a vintage allure to photos of work in progress to a 'take away' festival that arrives home like a pizza

How do you describe a project that doesn't exist yet? How do you communicate a concept defined in every detail but still under construction? How to capture attention, among the multitude of emails and daily proposals, focusing on a working in progress without relying on - usual, (too) precise, cold - rendering? And again, how can a cultural festival be made 'to take away', and therefore tangible?

More and more convinced that communication is (increasingly) fundamental for companies, designers and institutions, we have selected three (truly) original concepts, which impressed us with their creative impact fresh and vivid, brilliant and eclectic.

Three ideas to anticipate, respectively, a large residential and urban project in South America, a small restaurant near Milan and a cultural festival that arrives like a pizza. Because disruptive formats can be adapted to any project scale.

The collages tell about Botaniqo, a green residential complex in Quito, Ecuador

There are many residential projects under construction and for communication usually renderings are created, precise, perfect, tendentially cold. Instead Botániqo is presented with creative, inspirational yet concrete collages , with vintage references and a strongly territorial connotation.

We are in South America, in Equador, to be precise in the Cumbaya district of Quito where the studies Tatiana Bilbao Estudio and Uribe Schwarzkopf have developed a new generation residential project, ready in 2024, which adopts a sustainable approach from both an urban and a human point of view.

A sustainable urban development project that connects people and territory

Focused on the idea of community, the layouts of the Botániqo residences encourage connection through numerous shared spaces. As stands out from the collages, a series of connected living modules were designed, interspersed with open and closed spaces, public and private, which generate different forms. Equipped with a total of 277 residential units, the nine towers each have common terraces full of native plants. The vegetation is also incorporated into the facades, recalling the lush landscape of the surrounding Quito.

Green at the center of the project. And some art works

As is evident from the art works, this is an intervention that enhances nature and that opens up to outside, both to the landscape and to the people. Botániqo will have more than 5000 m2 of green areas : the concept of the project, which occupies only 35 % of the allowed space, was developed to create an ' organic harmony between the complex and the ' surrounding environment. Among the numerous pluses, a botanical garden in the upper part of the building and a new tree-lined avenue that will create pedestrian and bicycle accesses along the entire perimeter. Furthermore, every tree in the land will be preserved, transplanted and then relocated, maintaining the endemic vegetation of the area.

Connection and service for the city

In addition to the numerous services that the complex will offer (swimming pool, gym, spa, paddle tennis, children's area, pet park, green squares, meeting rooms, event spaces, multifunctional hall), emerges from the collages full of ideas and suggestions. the close connection with the active, lively and growing district of Cumbayá, in which it will act as a catalyst. Botániqo will in fact contribute to the construction of the new public transport station which will serve over 60,000 people per day.

Work in progress on the boutique restaurant near Milan designed by Serena Confalonieri

Certainly not new to imaginative, brilliant and super-accurate communication projects in the creation of images, Serena Confalonieri presents with a special preview 13.10 Ristorante, its first interior design project.

It is a 25-seat boutique restaurant in Vimercate, near Milan, which will be inaugurated at the beginning of 2022. The concept of the restaurant combines the ironic and colorful stylistic code of the designer with the gastronomic philosophy of chef Marcello Passoni, made of ingredients at Km0 and cultural influences from the world.

Shooting work in progress

Developed within a courtyard, it will be an intimate and welcoming space, warm and convivial, characterized by bright but natural colors that recall the ingredients used in the kitchen. Di 'outline' the menu includes eclectic and lively patterns, bright and romantic colors, objects refined furniture and bespoke pieces.

And if the goal of the restaurant is to convey a domestic feeling - eating out but feeling a bit at home - Serena communicates it like this: with a shooting work in progress, unexpected and dynamic, informal and fun. Just like Serena.

Design companies under construction

For the interiors, the designer involved numerous design companies that decided to be part of the project with their products and a series of customizations. And she staged them during the work in progress.

A HDsurface which took care of the finishes and Ceramica Cielo for bathroom furniture, a series of products designed by Serena herself are added: the Carnival wallpaper by Wall&decò, the Stilla mirror by Potocco and the Kyma tableware collection by Sambonet.

And again Florim supplied the ceramic coverings, Servomuto and MM Lampadari the lighting, Fratelli Levaggi the typical handcrafted Chiavarine chairs and Besana Carpet Lab the carpet designed by Serena ad hoc for the new restaurant. Among the designer's products, the Scott jacquard fabric for l'Opificio and the Archie table by Medulum were also chosen.

Festival Delivery in numbered artist boxes

From November 10, the The Plague Festival returns!, promoted by the cultural foundation Il Lazzaretto, in an unpublished 'takeaway' format featuring - directly and comfortably at home, in a (literally) surprising way - artistic projects born within the Virus! program, this year dedicated to the theme Order/Disorder .

A pizza does not come home but a festival

Starting from the idea of bringing culture directly home, the 'take-away carton' - can only be ordered from the morning of Tuesday 9 November on the site ilfestivaldellapeste.com - contains a series of objects that tell in an original way the projects commissioned and created during the year by artists , including the live artist Sara Leghissa, the photographic collective Cesura, the Catalan illustrator Luci Gutiérrez , as well as the students of the Mohole School and Daniele Costa, winner of the Lydia Prize.

Clues to the works to be explored comfortably from home

The special numbered artist's box, with a packaging that recalls in all respects the classic pizza box, actually contains wonders all to discover: short excerpts, clues and 'precipitated' of the works resulting from a year's work. All objects included in the box will be unveiled and integrated with insights available on the site and will be enjoyed comfortably at home without time limits.

The box must be collected at Il Lazzaretto (in Milan in via Lazzaretto 15) on the launch night of the festival, Wednesday 10 November by 8.00 pm.
