The 8,000-square-metre pool at the Hotel Lopesan Costa Meloneras Resort & Spa in Spain has been given a new lease of life thanks to products from the Italian company

The history of Fabbrica Italiana di Lucidi e Affini, founded in 1943, is a long one. Founded 80 years ago by Guido and Pietro Pettenon, today, thanks to current president Beniamino Pettenon, it has evolved its core business from footwear products, waxes and household cleaners to surface care products. Beniamino's children, Francesco and Alessandra, hold the position of managing directors, guiding an ever-expanding business between Fila Solutions Headquarters and Innovation Centre in San Martino di Lupari (Pd), an Experimentation Centre in Fiorano Modenese and a sales network in France, Germany, Spain, USA, Great Britain and the United Arab Emirates.

80 years of commitment and enthusiasm

A group that exports all-Italian professionalism and technology in taking care of the beauty of surfaces over time to bring well-being and harmony to environments and places dedicated to the community: from the Caesars Palace Bluewaters in Dubai to the Armani Hotel in Milan, the New Presidential Palace and the Louvre in Abu Dhabi, just to name a few. "The 80th anniversary of foundation," says President Beniamino Pettenon, "is a moment of celebration and a time to reflect on the difficulties overcome over the years, on the successes achieved with a group of valuable people. With commitment and enthusiasm we continue on a path of innovation and development'.

An iconic swimming pool

One of the latest interventions is the one on the 8,000 square metre swimming pool of the Hotel Lopesan Costa Meloneras Resort & Spa in Gran Canaria, Spain. Located 800 metres from Maspalomas beach, the resort offers a spa, a casino and heated lagoon-style pools set in tropical gardens. A majestic palace where windows, doors and porticoes transport guests to the colonial era, offering the iconic architecture of the islands. The complex's swimming pools have been completely renovated, including the 8,000-square-metre infinity pool in glass mosaic and epoxy joint, one of the island's emblems.

Safe treatment

The treatment, carried out by the company Pools Consulting & Water, involved cleaning the installation residues of the new glass mosaic (gresite) cladding of the hotel's swimming pools, which were grouted with black epoxy grout. Fila Solutions' new installation cleaning technology was used to treat the surface, in particular the Epoxy Pro cleaner, specifically designed for fresh epoxy joints.

Instant cleaning

An instant cleaning solution that is applied without the use of water and without the need for rinsing, ideal in a case like this (large surface area, outdoor environment, high temperatures) as it removes any type of epoxy residue, preventing it from hardening and making it difficult to remove (no labour costs for removal).

Respect materials and joints

Epoxy Pro does not create foam and allows for ultra-fast drying of the surface (Rapid Dry Technology) which saves time and makes the tiler's job easier. A safe solution that does not emit toxic gases and does not damage profiles or stainless steel pool elements. The end result is a job without stains or residues, respecting the material and joints.
