Mobil Mat by Antonio Citterio with Oliver Löw: a classic revisited

Working on surfaces is one of Kartel’s specialties, giving new life to its historical products with a matt and silk touch finish. Among them is the iconic Mobil drawer cabinet, designed by Antonio Citterio with Oliver Löw. Already a winner of the Compasso d'Oro award in 1994, it is presented in a original edition, available not only in the unusual Mat black and white finish but also in new shades – plum, green and blue – that heighten its appeal. In the revised version, the structure of this light and functional container system is colored with black wheels, with the exception of the white version in total white. In addition to castors, the chest of drawers can also rest on fixed feet and comes equipped with convenient handles. In production terms, Mobil's manufacturing process involves the use of a recycled thermoplastic technopolymer deriving from pure storage material, uncontaminated by materials from different sectors. This innovative and virtuous recycling system helps to clean up the environment with the reuse of industrial residues that again become raw materials. The flexibility of this modular system, easy to move and with broad potential for customization, has made it very successful over time. Today the unique soft touch finish and the renewed color palette give a timely and contemporary elegance to a timeless classic with a green soul.
