Tristano Sideboard by Maurizio Peregalli , industrial materials and the imperfections of metal

The Tristano Sideboard is a storage unit (dimensions 150 x 33 x H 82 cm) with a flap door. Designed by Maurzio Peregalli for Zeus, its minimalist language and formal purity enable it to relate to even the most classic furnishings. In keeping with the spirit of the brand, the furniture is made from industrial materials, bringing out the aesthetic and structural versatility of metal as well as its imperfections.

The structure is made of 10 x 10 mm solid drawn steel, while the two shelves are made of 2 mm thick sheet metal. The flap door is in expanded metal mesh, with a magnet catch, while with and the optional LED strip lighting it creates a graphic effect of transparency.

The sideboard is finished in epoxy powder in the two variants: black copper sablé or micaceous gray.

Tristano Sideboard is a container with flap door, two shelves and optional internal LED light. It is intended for young families and in general lovers of industrial design. It also goes well with very classic or antique furniture.
What is the design concept?
Initially it was designed as a classic living room piece. It is made from industrial-grade materials, such as expanded metal mesh, which the company forecasts is set to make a comeback, and press-folded sheet metal. Even with the door closed, the inside of the sideboard can be seen when the light is on, creating an effect of now you see it, now you don’t.
How is it produced and where?
Like all Zeus products, the Tristano Sideboard is handmade in our Vignola workshop and finished in Milan in our Fizzonasco warehouse. The irregular welds and finishes show it is handmade. Each piece is unique.
How is it manufactured?
It is made by our craftsmen who have been working on Zeus products with great manual skill for 30 years. They have important experience in welding and bending sheet metal, a fundamental skill in metalworking.
What are its innovative contents?

Minimalist, handmade, functional.
How does the designer describe it?
“It reflects my minimalist interpretation of design, which has always included the use of industrial materials, even with deviations from their original functions.”
