The new radiator with a sustainable soul designed by Rodolfo Dordoni

"I had never designed radiators before, so when I was asked to design one, I immediately thought about what would be the best type for a radiator that should not be hidden, but can remain visible, exhibited. I have always opted for classic radiators, the old ones, the real cast iron radiators, made of heavy, high-performance material. So, I thought I would see how I could reinterpret that object...".

A renewed aesthetic strength

Rodolfo Dordoni recounts the birth of Ghisa, the radiator designed for Antrax IT and which, after a gestation period of three years, marks an important step in the design-oriented evolution of an object, the radiator, that is increasingly the protagonist of the home. On the one hand the Milanese architect and designer, interpreter of a timeless industrial design, heir to the Lombard tradition of the great masters, and on the other the Veneto-based company that, since 1996, has been reinterpreting and working exclusively on this type of product, making it a protagonist of interior design, a functional creation with renewed aesthetic strength.

Signs, details, proportions

Like all Antrax IT products, characterised by the use of innovative materials and the refinement of form, Ghisa was created to decline the traditional aesthetic canons of the radiator with a strong essentiality of signs, precise details and ideal proportions. This elegant and extremely functional radiator consists of slender elements with a polygonal section, tapered at both ends, which are joined on both sides by an equal number of die-cast metal parts, linear or curved to construct the perimeter of the radiator. The light joint lines give rhythm to the structure of the product, whose three types of components are perfectly designed in terms of size, with complex shapes fitting into each other. Also enhancing the harmony is the relationship between solids and voids, which create an identical, repeated sequence and determine the identity of the design, available in different configurations, sizes and in the two vertical or horizontal versions.

A sustainable project

Ghisa is the name chosen to evoke the industrial tradition, also inspired, with a touch of irony, by the affectionate nickname used in Milan to refer to the traffic policeman, but the material in which the radiator is actually made is 100% recyclable aluminium, with a very low water content and high thermal performance. For this reason, Ghisa is a sustainable, water-only product where design and technology come together.

Special colours and variable dimensions

Proposed in a range of special colours, some of which are also embossed - six of which have been identified by the designer himself - that ideally support the link with the object of inspiration, it can be made up of a minimum of four up to eight elements, selectable in different lengths - 100, 150, 180 and 200 cm - and can be accessorized with hooks and towel rails in polished stainless steel that make it ideal for the bathroom environment.
