Architect and designer Ferruccio Laviani designs the Elle bookcase for Mara, transverse, modular, modern

When there is a common desire, between companies and creative people, to experiment, to go beyond one's own boundaries, to test one's own design and try to add something new to the design scene, something innovative, daring, revolutionary can be born. This is what happened between Mara and Ferruccio Laviani, who found themselves collaborating in the light of the same vision of design culture.

A dual synergy

"I appreciated Mara's honest desire to invest in new designers, without fear of taking risks, to bring something new and challenging to the market," says Laviani. The result of this synergy was twofold.

Interpreting corporate identity

The first expression of the collaboration was the Mara stand at the last Salone del Mobile.Milano. The creative designer interpreted the corporate identity in an open and fluid space, in terms of composition and concept: 'Transcendence: The Fusion of Living and Working Spaces', display islands next to each other in a continuous and uninterrupted path to discover the brand's collections.

A transversal architecture

Among the new collections here is the second project for Mara: the Elle bookcase, a transversal architecture, modular, modern, a tribute to lightness. The modular structure allows numerous compositions, accommodating spaces and needs. The stylistic feature is enclosed in the "L" element that gives shape to the shelves: by playing with the orientations, it is possible to create closed shapes, thus containers or dividers, or open shapes for visible shelves.

A passe-partout for contemporary furniture

"I created this collection for Mara with my everyday life and needs in mind," explains the architect, "and the result is a passe-partout for contemporary furnishing. By changing layouts and heights, which can also be implemented over time with new equipment, you get systems that are always new and customisable.

Entirely in metal

The Elle bookshelf is made entirely of metal: a material that not only supports Mara's DNA, but allows for an even stronger stylistic harmony with the brand's other collections.
