From the collaboration between the multidisciplinary architecture studio and the textile company Dedar, the Gea and Arké collections are born, new natural and material fabrics. Ideal for the home, perfect on board

From large yachts to handles, passing through interior, architectural and furnishing projects up to fabrics: the journey of Zuccon International Studio is unstoppable. It is a continuous journey that unravels between various experiences, which, like a fil rouge, come together, interpenetrate and complete each other.

In fact, today the Roman multidisciplinary design studio (founded by Paola Galeazzi and Gianni Zuccon in 1972 and now led by their children Bernardo and Martina) after the collaboration with Razeto & Casareto (for the creation of handles) and Poltrona Frau (for the creation of a line of sofas) adds to its portfolio the one with Dedar, a textile company renowned for its style and cutting edge.

Multidisciplinarity is the strong point of Zuccon International Project, which allows Martina and Bernardo to tackle projects in different areas of design with agility. With one objective: to develop products that are aesthetically pleasing, functional and suitable for the specific needs of the sector in which they will be used, be it nautical or the domestic environment.

“From the spoon to the city, said Ernesto Nathan Rogers, to simplify that the architect must be able to do a bit of everything”, explains Bernardo Zuccon, “Let's think about the Wright's projects, in which the architect designed from the architectural layout up to the decoration of the dishes of the house.

Thus the collaboration with Dedar developed spontaneously, thinking about collections that I would have gladly seen on board. A new collaboration which for me is an opportunity to simplify some design processes."

The Studio has focused on some types of materials already used by Dedar to enhance the theme of nature. In the fabrics, in fact, we find the desire to return to the origin of the material, moving away completely from purely decorative concept, looking for interweaving of different fibres, so that they become protagonists of the stylistic message.

The Gea collection (from the name of the goddess of the earth, origin of life in Greek mythology) features three different fabrics, chosen from the Dedar samples and customized by Zuccon through the definition of special colours. Alongside Gea, the Zuccon studio has created a new pattern, Arké (a name that defines the concept of principle and origin) in which the authenticity of the material becomes the protagonist.

Attention is placed on the concepts of resistance, ability to adapt to humid environments (typical of boats and outdoors in a broad sense) and durability. “The more matter there is, the more coexistence of different materials there is, and the more resistant the fabric becomes. Which must also withstand the activity that takes place on a boat. The products must be intelligent, rational”, explains Zuccon,

“And then there is the aspect of materiality: the return to simplicity, that is, a primitive aspect of the material, is indicative of my desire to fight the logic of ostentation of luxury on a boat in favor of a more informal view. What life must be like in contact with the sea."
