Designing circular
In circular design, the goal is to limit the loss of value of products and materials at the 'end of life' of an element: according to Forbo, reuse, repair, regeneration, renewal or recycling are all useful alternatives to avoid it.
It is also useful to guarantee a production cycle that is free of waste, but also the design of durable products, resistant to wear or wear; in this case the choice of materials is fundamental.
Another aspect to which particular attention should be paid lies in the improvement and simplification of cleaning & maintenance in order to extend the end of life.
Forbo Flooring always aims for designs that is easy to disassemble and reassemble, which results in products that are loose lay and made from materials can safely be recycled. A good example of this is are the modular products which can come in many forms and designs.
"Designing with 'emotional sustainability' is certainly more challenging" accoring to Forbo. Â "The goal is to create products with which people have such a bond and trust that they want to remain connected to these products. This is the only way they keep their value over time".
