The new Mapei Stadium – Città del Tricolore: how it has changed with the renovation

The renovation project, started in 2014 and which saw further interventions during the last summer break of the Serie A Championship last August 2023, has brought improvements and modernisation to the structure, thus positioning it among the facilities with the highest quality standards at an international level, and enhancing a place of intrinsic tradition of the territory.

The objective of the works, from their beginning, was to return an immersive space to the sporting community and beyond, capable of amplifying the already intense emotions associated with a place of entertainment by vocation. A commitment which for Mapei is summarized in planning, accuracy of construction and investment.

The renewed look of the Mapei Stadium – Città del Tricolore welcomes the public with an interesting scenic impact, thanks first and foremost to the colours, chosen for the exterior of the structure.

Specifically, all the facades have been restored and painted. To further enhance the Tricolore, symbol of the city of Reggio Emilia, the main façade of the stadium was also completed with four large banners, two on each side.

The protagonists, naturally, are green, white and red, designed to identify and significantly enhance the risers of the staircases leading to the entrances.

Furthermore, the western entrance is completed by the luminous sign 'Mapei Stadium - Città del Tricolore' and the traditional access tunnel has been restored also thanks to the new flooring chosen for the walkway.

“All together now”: a work by Olimpia Zagnoli for the Mapei Stadium

To enhance the performance of the project, already graphically impactful, is the work of art created for the Mapei Stadium by the internationally renowned illustrator Olimpia Zagnoli.

It is called "All together now", and it is a speaking illustration, which through sinuous lines and interweaving of contrasting colors represents the stadium as a place of sharing, fun and inclusive sociality. The inclusion, which enhances the visual identity of the stadium, contributes to making the structure a place of cultural heritage for the area.
