Presented at the Yachting Festival Cannes 2024, the first half-year results and some world premiere novelties

It is the ability to anticipate the future that makes a company great. That attention in picking up signs and signals that reality transmits. That ever vigilant tension in picking up what others do not hear, in seeing what is momentarily invisible to most. Thanks to entrepreneurs capable of tuning in to frequencies that are still unknown but already potentially interesting, of glimpsing the final destination at the end of a path. This is what Massimo Perotti, Executive Chairman and Ceo of Sanlorenzo, has done and continues to do: a shipowner who has never accepted compromises, exploring innovation through experience, building bespoke yachts and superyachts that are always above fashion.

Sanlorenzo at Yachting Festival Cannes 2024

In Cannes, meeting the press on the occasion of the opening of the 2024 edition of Yachting Festival Cannes (until 15 September), Perotti explained how ‘the excellent results of this first semester fill us with pride and give us new energy to continue on the route we have taken. Special thanks go to all the teams that are part of Sanlorenzo, whose daily dedication and commitment make it possible to maintain the planned growth trajectory‘’.

Road to 2030

Numbers and performance that confirm the effectiveness of the business model and the soundness of the strategic choices of Sanlorenzo's Road to 2030 plan. ‘We have successfully completed two avant-garde projects, delivering in the summer the 50Steel equipped with a green methanol reformer-fuel cell system for the onboard hotellerie, and the two BGH tenders with hydrogen propulsion, built for two teams taking part in the America's Cup,’ continues Perotti.

The Bluegame project

Building on the experience gained with the BGH - HSV project, Bluegame is already working on the BGM65HH (hydrogen-hybrid) multihull, which is scheduled to be launched in 2027 and will enable 80-mile zero-emission sailing. The vessel will benefit from the partnership with Volvo Penta and will house the Ips Professional Platform on board, developed on the revolutionary success of the Volvo Penta Ips, with improvements in efficiency, extended cruising range, higher top speed and faster acceleration: a system designed to optimise fuel consumption and reduce emissions.

Hybrid propulsion systems

The next steps for increasingly sustainable boating will be towards further development in the use of fuel cells and the introduction of hybrid propulsion systems. The yard has already signed an agreement with Siemens Energy for the development of the Reformer Fuel Cell system, to be completed by 2026, with the aim of expanding the range of fuel cell applications and reducing size, weight and cost. Moreover, thanks to an agreement with MAN of Ranieri Tonissi and Nanni Industries, Sanlorenzo aims to build a superyacht with a Bi-Fuel system fuelled by 80% green methanol by 2027, allowing emissions to be reduced by the same percentage, exceeding the target of a 55% reduction in emissions by 2030 set by the European Union's Fit for 55 programme.

The acquisition of Nautor Swan

The acquisition of Nautor Swan, a Finnish company that designs sailing yachts completed at the beginning of August, ‘testifies to our ability to recognise investment opportunities with high value creation potential and to integrate them into a long-term industrial logic,’ says Perotti. From a commercial point of view Sanlorenzo and Nautor Swan ‘will continue to be two independent and separate brands. On the one hand a powerboat manufacturer, on the other sailing yachts, they will never have offices together, the sales networks will be separate, and you will never see them at boat shows together. Two mono brands'.

Two world premiere novelties

Two novelties unveiled in a world premiere in Cannes. With the SL86A, Sanlorenzo bears witness to the evolution of the application of the asymmetry concept, capable of exploiting its potential to the full to find new and optimised living solutions, always consistent with the elegance and captivating style of the design. Strong points: the large living area on the main deck and the aft area that allows the boat to sail without a visible staircase and introduces an element of transparency that reinforces the full connection with the sea. With the SP92 we confirm our desire to consolidate our research in the performance and sporty yacht segment. The yacht combines the best technologies in the range, both in terms of sailing performance and sustainability. The interiors are distributed over four levels with solutions that enhance the breadth and liveability of the spaces, but what is most striking is the large aft area available: a 45 square metre beach area that can be customised with a retractable hatch concealing the garage.

BGM 75 a revolution in the boating world

At Cannes, Bluegame is showcasing BGM75, a true revolution in the boating world, thanks to the stabilisers on the multihull, the result of an exclusive agreement with Smart Gyro. The boat is characterised by a reduced length-to-width ratio that allows for a lower deck with a four-cabin layout and a full beam owner's cabin of great comfort. Finally, the ultra-efficient design of the hull, designed by Philippe Briand, allows a considerable reduction in consumption and CO2 emissions, in line with Sanlorenzo's sustainability objectives.
