The equation Design = Milan is really too simple, the formula that is normally referred to to understand the phenomenon of the Lombard Design Week.
To fully understand this extraordinary moment, we must start from FuoriSalone, an event born thanks to INTERNI in 1990 (when the September appointment with the Salone del Mobile was moved to April) and which has surpassed, in terms of cultural vivacity and experimentation, the boundaries of the exhibition market, bringing the world of design to the city in a capillary and festive way.
The true vocation of the FuoriSalone to propose a cultural, spectacular and market model, which translates environmentally into performances, installations, exhibitions and, in a completely natural way, into experimental expressions that over the years have become part of a spontaneous process of formation teaching and planning.
The balance of the latest FuoriSalone events allows us to frame it historically as a choral work of which INTERNI is one of the absolute protagonists. A phenomenon that is complementary and not antagonistic to the historic event of the Salone del Mobile, assuming the city as a place for the dissemination of a culture that makes design a factor for reflection, development and encounter. A model much imitated in the world but still unparalleled today, of which the INTERNI Guide (in its thirtieth edition) is an essential tool.
The INTERNI exhibition-event for FuoriSalone 2021 (at the University of Milan, at the Brera Botanical Garden, at the Audi City Lab in via della Spiga 26) is dedicated to Creative Connections: connections and relationships between the protagonists of creativity, designers and companies, distribution networks, ideas and projects from different places and cultures, within the perimeter of a virtuous system of research and innovation oriented towards a more sustainable future scenario: in production processes, in the optimization of resources and materials, designed in the name of a circular economy.
The installations signed by the great names of the project and created thanks to the most advanced companies in experimentation interpret the dream of a more beautiful and better world, in their linguistic pluralism, capable of building dialogues with people and the environment.
