INTERNI Creative Connections is an exhibition event conceived and coordinated by INTERNI - the Magazine of Interiors and Contemporary Design and co-produced by Eni

Eni and INTERNI Creative Connections

Eni is an integrated energy company with over 30,000 employees in 68 countries around the world. Its activities range from the development of new energy solutions to the more traditional exploration and production of hydrocarbons, to the refining and marketing of petroleum products and biofuels; from the generation and marketing of electricity to the production of renewable energy; from the development of chemicals and bio products to environmental activities.

Eni aims to contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations 2030 Agenda, supporting a just energy transition, which responds to the challenge of climate change with concrete and economically sustainable solutions by promoting efficient and sustainable access to energy resources , for everyone.

Eni's decarbonisation strategy aims to achieve net zero emissions by 2050. With the aim of becoming a leader in the production and marketing of decarbonised products, Eni will supply green products from renewable sources, blue products from decarbonised gases and organic products from its biorefineries or other transformation cycles that convert organic waste and biomass.

The company has adopted a new business model that places sustainability at the center of every activity, as well as a new mission inspired by the SDGs. In 2021, it launched a new strategy which, leveraging the merger of the renewable and retail businesses, and the combination of bio-refining and marketing, will lead Eni to supply a variety of fully decarbonised products by 2050, combining environmental and financial sustainability. .

As part of its long-term carbon neutrality strategy, to offset its residual emissions that are difficult to reduce with current technologies, Eni has envisaged the possibility of using carbon credits generated by forest projects adhering to the REDD + scheme (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and forest Degradation) conceived by the United Nations which, in addition to climatic and environmental benefits such as the reduction of deforestation, the increase of forest carbon stocks and the conservation and restoration of biodiversity, guarantee benefits in terms of social and economic development of local populations.

Eni will also participate this year at the FuoriSalone in Milan with the Natural Capital installation at the Brera Botanical Garden to talk about forest conservation, one of the pillars of its decarbonization strategy. The installation, designed by Studio Carlo Ratti Associati, intends to raise visitors' awareness of the role of forests in combating climate change: Natural Capital shows the CO2 captured and accumulated by the different species present in the Brera Botanical Garden and the risks deriving from deforestation , one of the main causes of an increase in CO2 in the atmosphere. Visitors will be able to admire the installation from different perspectives and thus experience a different point of view on the fight against climate change thanks to design, a universal language capable of stimulating collective reflection on the theme of decarbonisation. The theme of forest conservation fits fully into the context of the "Creative Connections" exhibition, a concept that celebrates the 30th anniversary of the Fuorisalone, speaking, through design, of the connections between human beings and nature and using various forms of creativity to identify effective solutions to ever new needs, such as global warming.

Eni's current commitment to the protection and conservation of forests is mainly focused on developing countries, whose weight in the context of climate change mitigation strategies is scientifically considered among the most relevant.
