Ruby, cobalt and silver are the three new shades with which Bredaquaranta exclusively presents the new version of Totem by Mario Bellini during the FuoriSalone 2024

A primary geometry, characterized by pure and elementary lines: these are the aspects that, among others, have made design enthusiasts (and not only) fall in love with the iconic Totem, designed by Mario Belliniin 1971 for Brionvega.

A jewel of contemporary design conceived by the visionary mastery of Bellini and the technological vanguard of the brand, which Bredaquaranta – a company known internationally for the refined proposal of furnishing pieces – on the occasion of the FuoriSalone 2024 offers exclusively in three new evocative colours: cobalt blue, ruby red, silver grey.

Totem by Mario Bellini, a design icon

What has remained Totem an important part of the history of Italian design, which still makes it sought after and appreciated throughout the world, is the fact that it is a simple cubic volume white that unfolds and recomposes modularly into a sophisticated Hi-Fi listening machine, with the two speakers which, when opened, reveal the stereo module, the radio and the turntable.

Elements and colour, for the limited edition of Totem

The chromatic interpretations have a lot to do with the long reflection between form and function that the designer faced during the design period which then gave life to the iconic Totem. The three tones are in fact the result of a reasoning on the natural elements that characterize existence: water (Cobalt), fire (Ruby) and air (Silver).

Speaking of Totem, Mario Bellini said...

Totem was born as an object that not only lends a function to daily life, but, above all, with extreme sensitivity homage an art: “Music is an immaterial message and has no visible form. Totem hides and encloses in the ideal purity of a cube its "musical vocation" which is revealed and spreads with the touch of our hands, which open it to activate all its potential for sound reproduction" explained Bellini.
