Together with chef Carlo Cracco and architect Massimiliano Locatelli, Zacapa Rum inaugurates Zacapa Soul Nest and talks about Guatemala

At Palazzo Crivelli, in the heart of the Brera district, Zacapa has set up a multi-sensory space that leads to the discovery of the land of origin of the famous rum: Guatemala.

A place to take refuge during the frenzy of Design Week, to celebrate the senses and relax the mind: accompanying Zacapa Soul Nest, the installation designed to tell the public about Guatemalan culture, there is also a relaxation area designed by Massimo Locatelli and a fine dining space where you can taste Carlo Cracco creations.

Open to the public from Tuesday 16th to Sunday 21st April 2024, from 10am to 9pm each day, Zacapa Soul Nest combines design and explorations of taste, bringing the magic of a mystical and fascinating land to the FuoriSalone.

Zacapa Soul Nest: the petate tradition on display

In addition to offering a space dedicated to relaxation, Zacapa invites the public of the FuoriSalone to enter Palazzo Crivelli to get to know one of the most intrinsic traditions of Guatemala's artisan culture: the processing of petate.

By petate we mean those weaves that also characterize the bottle of Zacapa, obtained from the manipulation of the typical band of dried palm leaves, symbol of the Mayan culture and emblem of the inexhaustible bond between heaven and earth, divine and earthly.

A precious wealth of know-how and craftsmanship that has been handed down for more than 3,000 years, thanks to the local women who share their weaving skills with Zacapa to decorate the bottles of rum.

Territory and community, therefore: a bond that has become even closer since 1999, when the brand began to actively support these women (who today number over 800), offering them opportunities for work and earnings for their families.

Zacapa at Palazzo Crivelli: a room to contemplate

Precisely with a view to creating a connection between visitors, whether regular or new, and the scents of Guatemala, Zacapa also offers a space in which one can simply sit and relax. With Massimiliano Locatelli - who designed the spaces - he developed a habitable environment enriched by a capsule collection interpreted in a Zacapa key of some iconic pieces of the Milanese designer.

It is here that the meaning of Zacapa Soul Nest can be best interpreted, a place that speaks entirely of liquid and its conviviality: from the revolving walls > which open different entry points to emphasize inclusiveness, to tables and chairs designed with the petate weave to offer moments of pause and relaxation to taste the spirit.

Dinner with Zacapa and Cracco

To complete this, in the central room leading to the installation, from 6.00pm to 9.00pm, the food&beverage proposal by Carlo Cracco is served, which includes a special cocktail list which meets the chef's combinations to enhance the flavor notes of the spirit.
