In Milan, an interior project that did not allow for any changes in the layout becomes an opportunity to experiment with the surface reaction of the same color applied to different materials. And the house lights up, in a chromatic superimposition

In this simple and bright, analogical and vitaminic interior design intervention, the word "ON" has a double meaning: it must be understood in the immediate sense of "on", opposite of "off", but also "on, superimposed".

The project by Davide Vizzini of the studio dvdvarch for a Milanese apartment of 90 m2 observe and experience the behavior of a same color on different materials: iron, plaster, canvas, wood. The colors are actually only three - RAL 7011 (iron gray), RAL 7038 (agate gray), NCS-S0580-Y80R (a particular shade of red/orange) - juxtaposed and superimposed between them on the materials, letting the different reactions surface to light differentiate them delicately.

From limit to reflection up to creative stimulus

For Davide Vizzini, tackling this intervention was an opportunity to question the nature of a pure interior project. The apartment, on the top floor with a terrace covering a new building in Milan and inhabited for the first time, did not require or allow any change of plan . The work therefore consisted above all of a reflection on the existing spaces in relation to future residents: a young couple passionate of design, contemporary art and culture pop, but also fashion and music.

Custom furniture

The configuration of the new rooms revolves around the custom-made furniture , such as the sculptural and architectural Tab table, the low furniture in the living room that stands out for its 45 ° angles and the sheet metal complements that welcome objects that turn from artistic to everyday. There is no shortage of design pieces, such as the Extrawall sofa designed by Piero Lissoni for Living Divani, the carpet by Bertjrand Pot for Moooi and furnishings between art and design such as the Chubby Chairs by Dirk Vander Kooij , sold by Rossana Orlandi.

Passions and suggestions

The design process undertaken by Vizzini with the clients was a condensation of the suggestions coming from the contemporary world. Spontaneously, the house was then populated by the passions of the owners, such as that for art with the Bear Mask by Arsenio Rodriguez and for music with vinyl records.

From the cross to Cattelan's finger

In this colorful microcosm, the journey of the cross ex voto, coming from a market in Mexico City, one of the cities of the owners heart, comes naturally in front of and in dialogue with the Finger by Maurizio Cattelan in 1:47 scale, but also with the Love in Bloom vase by Marcantonio for Seletti.

Overflowing alchemies

The Color ON project is a multicolored and multi-material project, overflowing with objects and characters that reflect the owners passion for multifaceted creativity. A light and sunny house that was theater of experimentation for the designer, in an alchemy of light, colors and surfaces.
