The company that has produced decorative objects, fabrics and furnishings for the home since 1980 has now opened an exclusive boutique at 31 Rue de l'Université, in the heart of the Paris design district, close to Rue du Bac. Arcade cannot strictly be defined as a company. It is more like a world apart, a creative lab where design and handiwork mingle and combine. A large atelier that produces only entirely handmade things, from vases to textiles to furnishings. Craftsmanship, quality of materials and a design focus are the guiding principles behind the work. The collections are divided into four main lines: glass; Avec, the textile collections (blankets, carpets, baskets, cushions, fabrics for the table), all woven by hand; Atelier, the line of fashion accessories (handbags and hats) by the Bulgarian fashion designer Violeta Nevenova, and Etre, the line that includes a series of furnishing complements – benches, tables for indoor and outdoor use – made by hand in the South Tyrol, near the Arcade headquarters. New entries for 2012 include the Gio side-table collections and the Basil day-bed, both designed by Stefano Gaggero. www.arcadeavec.com.
