Creating in freedom was the theme of this session of Design Meets Food, Milan Meets the World, at the Del Tongo showroom, Via Solferino 22.

A creative freedom that sets apart the careers of the two protagonists of the evening, the designer Prospero Rasulo and the chef Cristiano Tomei.

Starting his career as a 360-degree artist working on installations for public and private spaces, as a collaborator of Studio Alchimia and Alessandro Mendini, over the years Rasulo has shifted his research towards design, creating projects with some of the leading companies in this sector.

A self-taught chef, graduate of the Istituto Nautico, with a surfer’s ‘renegade’ spirit, Tomei is now the owner of the restaurant L’Imbuto in Lucca, which gained a Michelin star in 2014.

Exponents of a multifaceted creativity that cannot be categorized, Rasulo and Tomei also presented some of their latest creations: the former illustrated the Milano kitchen developed for Del Tongo to provide maximum flexibility of configuration, while the latter offered dishes prepared for the occasion, including totanassa stuffed with tripe and cooked in oil with calamint, raspberries and squid ink, mackerel carpione with ham, elderflowers and potato sauce, and wild garlic rice seasoned with olive sprouts and extra virgin olive oil ice cream.
