What is the connection between Apulia and design? The question was answered in the Natuzzi showroom at Via Durini 28 by Pasquale Natuzzi Jr, son of the founder of the manufacturer of upholstered furniture based in Santeramo in Colle, province of Bari, which starting from Murge plateau has built an industrial empire and conquered worldwide markets.
A connection that is expressed above all in the love of materials (wood, leather, metal and glass, mixed to create harmonious settings for living in the dining area), which are the protagonists of the new collections, continuing an increasingly close and fertile relationship between Natuzzi Italia and contemporary design.
The theme was addressed by the creators of the latest products of the firm, the designers Claudio Bellini, Maurizio Manzoni of StudioMEMO, Ellen Bernhardt and Paola Vella of the studio Bernhardt&Vella, who described their projects and expressed three different design approaches to a style that has completely Italian DNA, but a strong international focus as well.
A story of tables: “materic” in the case of Bellini, who from the Ramo table with turquoise vases arrives at a table with a glass top, with plate holders in warm olive wood and Grottaglie ceramics; “décor” in the interpretation of Studio MEMO, with the Omega table in oak, and pale ceramic plates; “theatrical” in the work by the duo Bernhardt & Vella, with the Accademia table in the round version (featuring spheres in tones of yellow and green) and the rectangular version (with Grottaglie ceramics and photographs of local landscapes).
The wines sampled during the evening were Le Fossette Bianco Falanghina, Le Fossette Brut Spumante, Rosé della Quercia Spumante, Cacc’e Mmitte di Lucera Rosso of Cantina Alberto Longo (www.albertolongo.it).
