Mykita, the brand of eyewear handmade in Berlin, opens a store on one of the most famous shopping streets in Copenhagen. The dark anthracite gray outer finish forms a contrast with the large windows while spreading the light reflected by the optical white of the interiors outwards. The design is a contemporary mixture of parts made in contrasting materials. The readymade concept guides the custom furnishings. The result is an installation with clean construction that respects the traditional characteristics of the building.
The iconic Mykita Wall is the dominant feature: backlit panels of perforated white steel with small removable shelves to display the collections in a very flexible way.
In the large unified space, visitors can move freely around a large oak counter. Old flight attendant trolleys are used as stock containers.
The original ceiling is a composition made thanks to the restoration of old white glass panels and brass sections.
