Now at its 5th iteration, Bologna Design Week (see complete program at the website) confirms its partnership with Cersaie to celebrate the week of ceramics for architecture and bath furnishings in the historical center of Bologna.
Created and organized by Enrico Maria Pastorello, general manager, and Elena Vai, creative director, the appointment is a diffused event throughout the city, revealing the wonders of its creative and architectural heritage: previews, exhibitions, workshops, competitions, screenings and guided visits to historic palaces, deconsecrated churches, unusual locations, art galleries and showrooms.
In collaboration with Emilia-Romagna Region and Istituzione Bologna Musei, BDW features the exhibition project “Esprit Nouveau: le nouvel esprit des couleurs selon Le Corbusier.” The site-specific project is set up in the Pavillon de l'Esprit Nouveau at the fair, presenting lectures and encounters with contemporary masters of color and architecture.
This edition of BDW is full of creative stimuli, as a project of participation and co-design: starting with the interaction with Fondazione Cineteca di Bologna to select short films from its archives, narrating the relationship between architecture, design objects and color.
The universe of Giorgio Morandi, with his complex compositional balances, once again inspires the world of contemporary design in the exhibition Morandi-esque, at Casa Morandi.
Design talks and encounters enliven Piazza Verdi racconta. Via Zamboni becomes a living lab of experimentation with the project Le Cinque Piazze. While Piazza del Francia becomes the setting for Human Proportions, designed by Massimo Iosa Ghini: the installation originally created for the exhibition Interni Human Spaces, organized by Interni at Università degli Studi in Milan in April, is a reflection on the importance of human proportions, thinking back on the great masters of the Renaissance.
The most prestigious galleries and showrooms host site-specific exhibitions in various spaces, transforming museums, courtyards, libraries and private homes: The Cassina Perspective: tra innovazione e icone, Spazio B5 with All Around Design, Marsala District at Palazzo Rossi Poggi Marsili, Insidesign Studiostore in the former church of Santa Maria della Neve.
On Wednesday 25 September Design Night returns: shops, restaurants, showrooms and galleries are transformed into chambers of wonders, welcoming guests until midnight.
A fund-raising campaign has also been launched for the production of the project 1919, a performance of music, theater and dance created to celebrate the centenary of the founding of the Bauhaus.
On Saturday 28 September, the Closing Party welcomes all the participants of Design Week to a splendid location in the historical center.
