The choice is part of a strategic program of development of the company outlined by Roberta Silva, a few months after her appointment as Chief Executive Officer. Following in-depth analysis of the sector and the company, the CEO has launched a path of growth marked by a highly innovative managerial approach that respects the heritage and the distinctive identity of the brand.
A company of reference in the sector of design lighting, Flos is an integral part of Design Holding, the global group in the high-end interior design field, founded in November 2018 by Investindustrial and The Carlyle Group, also controlling B&B Italia, Louis Poulsen and Arclinea.
The figure of the external curator of product design, for the first time in the history of Flos, has a totally different profile from the typical role of the art director.
The objective of the design curator is to work on product development in a close, continuing and in-depth manner, to reinforce the range of offerings, to stimulate synergies between different divisions and to speed up the implementation process.
This new figure guarantees continuity with the past regarding the creative phase, while at the same time ensuring a more structured and efficient product development process for each of the brand’s four collections: Flos Home, Flos Architectural, Flos Outdoor and Flos Bespoke.
A change that will permit Flos to reach the market with a faster production cycle, and an integrated vision of lighting products for every type of indoor or outdoor application.
Fabio Calvi and Paolo Brambilla have collaborated with Flos for two decades – from the creation of many special installations inside institutional events or for the launch of new products, to the design of fair booths and displays, all the way to the recent renovation of the historic flagship store in Milan on Corso Monforte – which has enabled them to gain in-depth knowledge of the brand’s philosophy and collections.
As external, transverse figures who do not design the lamps themselves, the two architects of the studio Calvi Brambilla guarantee a working method based on passion but also objectivity, fostering balance in the relationships between the company and various designers.
Paolo Calvi and Fabio Brambilla will work in close collaboration with the four research and development teams of the four collections of the brand, in contact with the CEO Roberta Silva an the Head of International Marketing and Chief Digital Officer Barbara Corti, forming a true steering committee.
