With this project the landscape architects of Atelier Artisjok have responded to the request of the owners of a penthouse to create a panoramic terrace that would make a difference.
Coordinated by the studio, a team of landscape artists, engineers, architects, builders and suppliers has met the challenge of transforming the terrace into a true roof garden. They have used the most advanced techniques: load-bearing structures in metal, and an automatic irrigation system.
The big challenge was to find the ideal materials for the climate conditions of the site. Solutions that could stand up to wind, sand and salt, as well as the Belgian winter.
The choice went to Hi-Macs: thanks to the versatility of the material and the availability of different colors (for this project Ivory White and Black Granite) it has been used to make the shower, the hydromassage tub, the steps, the wind screens and even the cat door.
The hydromassage is outfitted with a shower, both installed along the brick wall warmed by the sun, offering a breathtaking view of the dunes. The entire terrace offers easy maintenance thanks to the non-porous character of the material and the extreme strength of the Solid Surface to stand up to chilly climates.
