The Leimu lamp and the Vakka cabinet receive the design Oscar
The Leimu lamp by the young Norwegian designer Magnus Pettersen and the Vakka storage cabinet designed by the studio Aalto+Aalto, both produced by iittala, have won the iF Design Award 2014. Leimu, which means a flame of color at sundown in Finnish, is a new piece from the iittala lighting line, which thanks to its copper color creates a relaxed atmosphere. In Leimu the cement base combined with the traditional shade form a harmonic, delicate whole. The Vakka cabinets by Elina and Klaus Aalto offer solutions to the problem of space. The design of these sturdy multipurpose objects reminds us of the fact that the storage equipment in any home can also become a pleasing part of its decor. For info: www.iitala.com
