Launch of the second edition of the competition to support the value of Italian design in Spain

The Italian embassy, in collaboration with the Consulate General of Italy in Barcelona, the magazine Interni, Colegio Oficial de Arquitectos de Madrid (COAM), the Designers’ Association of Madrid (DIMAD) and the Association for Industrial Design and the Promotion of Arts and Design of Barcelona (ADI-FAD), launches the second edition of the competition Design: a Voyage in Italy and Spain.

The competition sets out to support the value of Italian design in Spain, also in relation to academies, universities, design schools and young professionals, favoring connections between the creative community in Spain and Italian design companies.

The identifying object is the theme of this edition. An international jury chaired by the Italian ambassador in Madrid Stefano Sannino and composed of Italian and Spanish personalities from the world of design will choose the best projects submitted by students at design schools in Spain and young Italian or Spanish professionals working in Spain.

The challenge is to design an object that accompanies us always, that resolves the present, responding to the needs of the nomadic world in which we live, and accompanies us into the near future, with the capacity to adapt, recycle and transform itself.

The prototypes of the winning projects will be made by Italian companies and exhibited during the Salone del Mobile in Milan in the event Interni Creative Connections organized by Interni Magazine in the context of the FuoriSalone 2020. All the finalist projects will also be presented in Madrid and Barcelona for Italian Design Day 2020.

The guidelines, concept and application form are available at the web page of the project ITmakES. Deadline: 1 December 2019.

The competition is part of the project ITmakES, an initiative of the Italian embassy in Madrid developed with the Consulate General of Italy in Barcelona as part of the all-around strategy Vivere all’Italiana, to encourage collaboration between Italy and Spain in the main areas of interest shared by the two countries.
