The 58th Venice Art Biennale Venice (Giardini and Arsenale) - 11 May / 24 November 2019

The 58th Venice Art Biennale titled May You Live in Interesting Times is curated by Ralph Rugoff and organized by Biennale di Venezia under the direction of its president Paolo Baratta.

In his introduction, Rugoff writes: “Intelligent artistic activity involves creating forms that call attention to what forms conceal, and the functions that they fulfill. In an indirect fashion, perhaps art can be a kind of guide for how to live and think in ‘interesting times.’”

The international show is joined by 90 national exhibitions in the pavilions of the Giardini, the Arsenale and around the city of Venice. Four countries are taking part for the first time: Ghana, Madagascar, Malaysia and Pakistan. The Dominican Republic participates for the first time with its own pavilion.

Padiglione Italia at the Tese delle Vergini in the Arsenale, supported by the Ministry for Cultural Assets and Activities, is titled “Neither Nor” and is curated by Milovan Farronat
