With the project A Tribute to Ettore Sottsass (1917-2017) Artemide celebrates the centennial of the birth of Ettore Sottsass, to commemorate a long-term relationship of fertile professional collaboration and friendship with Ernesto Gismondi, president and founder of Artemide.

The projects that emerged from this relationship include the famous Callimaco and Pausania lamps, now part of the Masters’ Pieces collection of Artemide.

Designed in 1982, Callimaco has been reinterpreted to adapt to today’s LED and touch dimmer technologies.

Pausania, from 1983, has been revised to make it more eco-friendly, with low-consumption LEDs and the most innovative Tunable White technology.

A Tribute to Ettore Sottsass covers a range of initiatives, in parallel with the exhibition at the Milan Triennale Ettore Sottsass. There is a Planet, curated by Barbara Radice, from 15 September 2017 to 11 March 2018, and the exhibition Ettore Sottsass: Design Radical at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York (21 July – 8 October 2017).

@Artemide_lighting, the official Instagram page of Artemide, provides design lovers with stories, photos and quotations to narrate the long-term rapport between Artemide and Sottsass.

The tribute also happens in the shop windows of the most important Artemide showrooms around the world.
