The third exhibition project of Alcantara at Palazzo Reale, Codice di avviamento fantastico is the second show in a cycle curated by Davide Quadrio and Massimo Torrigiani, for a contemporary interpretation of a space of remarkable heritage value.

The company that produces and markets Alcantara® in the world continues its exploration of the expressive potential of this material, through the work of some of the most refined artists of our time: six talents from different creative worlds, invited to come to terms with the specificities of a single medium, in the exceptional context of the Appartamento del Principe.

The international artists in the show are: Aki Kondo, Michael Lin, Soundwalk Collective, Georgina Starr, Nanda Vigo and Lorenzo Vitturi.

The title Codice di avviamento fantastico refers to the mechanism of the same name described by Gianni Rodari (1920-1980) in the book Grammatica della fantasia. Introduzione all’arte di inventare storie (Einaudi Ragazzi, 1973).

Visitors follow an itinerary suitable for all: adults, kids, art experts, curious viewers. The exhibition is constructed as a cosmology of surprising worlds, triggered by the direct relationship with the spaces, spread through the ten rooms of the Prince’s Chambers.

From the spaceship of Nanda Vigo that seems to have breached the walls of Palazzo Reale, to the garden by Aki Kondo, the sound path in the world of Alcantara by the Soundwalk Collective, all the way to the original encounter between Milan and Taiwan staged by Michael Lin, the psychedelic forest of Lorenzo Vitturi, and a return to the past with the time machine of Georgina Starr.
