The 14th edition of the event on collectible design

From 5 to 9 December

Design Miami is back with an event on collectible design that brings together collectors, gallerists, designers, curators and critics from all over the world.

The 14th edition includes 33 international galleries showing museum-quality furnishings, lighting and art objects.

The 12 installations of the Design Curio platform feature works from the 20th and 21st centuries, putting the accent on scientific and technological research as well as fine craftsmanship and creativity.

The 2018 edition is marked by the experimental use of industrial materials, an artisan approach, but also avant-garde production methods like 3D printing and robotics, playful and outlandish design, and immersive environments. The red thread of the works on view is vivid color, especially among the works of designers from Latin America.

The intensive programming includes an exhibition and a site-specific installation by Pedro Reyes and Carla Fernández, winners of the Design Miami/ Visionary Award, as well as satellite exhibitions, special events, collaborations with companies, interviews and round table discussions. The dynamic Talks this year are presented by Therme Group in the Design Miami/ Talks Theater, designed by the architect Francis Kéré.

Interni, on Tuesday 4 December at 10.30, organizes a design talk at Istituto Marangoni Miami and presents Icon Architects. 100 international stories and visions, a special publication in the Interni Serie Oro (Gold Series).

For 2019, Design Miami/ announces that the curatorial director will be Aric Chen, taking the place of Rodman Primack.
