Area35 Art Gallery – Milan – Via Vigevano, 35 – 7 March – 28 April 2018
Of great visual and emotional impact, old and new works by Pietro Geranzani have been included in the exhibition L’Europa durante la pioggia at the gallery Area35 in Milan.
The solo show by the artist who focuses on figurative painting full of symbols puts the accent on historical knowledge of the past and present, with a particular focus on the contemporary world and its uncertainties.
The works take their cue from the title of a work by Max Ernst, Europe After the Rain II (1942), which expressed the situation of fear and despair caused by the envisioned continuation of World War II.
Geranzani does not make direct reference to Ernst’s scenario, but evokes a place, Europe, and the factor of rain, representing the inexorable progress of international conflicts.
