On view at MAXXI in Rome, Light is the study of natural landscapes through large sculptures, photographs, video installations and projections. Comte has returned to the same locations for over ten years to record even the smallest changes of the landscape and the light.

His representations of the glacial landscape defy the tradition of classic landscape photography, alternating close-ups and partial details with sporadic panoramic views and vaguely evocative abstract structures.

Contrasting the gradual vanishing and fragility of glaciers with their enormous force and mystery, the images prompt sensations of fear, rage and frustration over the loss of this natural legacy.
