Five large multicolored site-specific installations for the surprising solo show by Katharina Grosse in Shanghai
Chi K11 Art Museum, Shanghai
Until 24 February 2019
K11 Art Foundation and Chi K11 Art Museum present the first solo show by Katharina Grosse in China.
Mumbling Mud is an exhibition that covers over 1500 square meters of space, subdivided into five areas – Underground, Ghost, Silk Studio, Stomach, Showroom – each of which is occupied by a large-scale site-specific installation in order to lead viewers through a sort of labyrinth with an unimaginable and surprising spectral character.
The installations are made on multicolored structures, covered with spray paint and drapes, prompting the viewer to wonder about the quintessence of an alien metropolis in continuous mutation, impossible to contain within precise boundaries.
