Winners of the second edition

Young, with low budgets, great environmental awareness and an eye on the future. The new generation of designers emerging from the second edition of Premio Architettura Toscana (PAT), organized by the Tuscany Regional Council of the Architects’ Association and ANCE, with the collaboration of Fondazione Architetti Firenze, presented the jury with an unusual, contemporary and sustainable perspective on the territory.

Recovery of places and buildings, respect for the territory, sustainability and environmental quality were the ‘ingredients’ of this edition of the prize. The winning works were convincing above all for their ability to come to terms with nature through minimum, essential steps, refurbishing private and public buildings with great economy of means.

The winners of the First Works section were Podere Navigliano (at San Giovanni d’Asso - Siena) and Casetta nell’oliveto (Serravalle Pistoiese - PT). The category for Installations or Interiors went to the new lighting of the Basilica of Santa Croce (Florence), while first prize in the New Construction section was assigned to Foresteria del Pellegrino di Siloe (Cinigiano - GR). First prize for Restoration or Recovery went to the Arsenali della Repubblica of Pisa, while the category of Public Spaces, Landscape and Regeneration saw the victory of the project Shelter #1 in Prato.

The exhibition of the winning projects and honorable mentions will remain on view until Friday 21 June at Palazzina Reale, Piazza della Stazione 50, in Florence.
