Three archaic forms for three original pieces created by Alessandro Mendini in the new Pointillisme wood by Alpi

Via Solferino 7, Milan

Until 20 December

Three archaic forms designed by Alessandro Mendini – Qfwfq, Ayl and Luna & Sole – are on view in the exhibition Tre Primitivi set up in the Alpi showroom in Milan.

Three exclusive pieces of furniture designed by Alessandro Mendini for the occasion, which take their names from the protagonists of the Cosmicomic by Italo Calvino Without Colors, and are made with the new Pointillisme COL and Pointillisme B/N wood based on design by Atelier Mendini with Alex Mocika.

A reissue of the first wood produced by Alpi for Atelier Mendini in 1991, Pointillisme COL and B/N offers the pattern in two versions, one with sunny color, the other with lunar gray tones.

Multicolored dots and references to pointillisme are reproduced in the Alpi wood thanks to the company’s sartorial approach, which makes it possible to produce this design while conserving its particulate and intangible character.

The evanescence and immaterial quality of the pointillist paintings of artists like Paul Signac and George Seurat, and the reflections on color and light in the story by Italo Calvino, are represented in this exhibition through the archaic monumental impact of the furniture by Alessandro Mendini.
