Terminal Stores Manhattan 19/22 May – Industry City Brooklyn 17/21 May
Odile Hainaut and Claire Pijoulat, co-founders of WantedDesign, announce WantedDesign 2018, celebrating its 8th edition (19-22 May at Terminal Stores, Manhattan; 17-21 May at Industry City, Brooklyn).
WantedDesign Manhattan will showcase numerous international design pavilions (including Istanbul, Chile, El Salvador, Mexico and more); Look Book featuring the work of 12 designers and makers from across North America; Oliver Haslegrave, the recipient of 2018 American Design Honors; DMxM Talks, a series of engaging conversations curated by Design Milk and Modenus and more.
2018 marks the 5th anniversary of the Launch Pad presented for the third year with Design Milk and Design Within Reach. A staple in the US, Launch Pad at WantedDesign is an international platform for young designers that showcases emerging design talent in the fields of furniture and lighting.
Each of the two categories will feature international design studios and independent designers, for a total of 33 pre-selected competing participants: 19 in the furniture category and 14 in lighting, representing 11 countries.
WantedDesign Brooklyn joins the IC Design Festival in Sunset Park, which celebrates Industry City as a bonafide design destination. Don’t miss a series of curated exhibitions on the Factory Floor including Conscious Design and Oui Design; the Design School Workshop with students from around the globe collaborating around the theme Future Heirloom; a Career Day on May 17, open studio tours and a new mural by artist Camille Walala.
This event offers a host of new programs and speakers during NYCxDesign 2018. WantedDesign presents launches, workshops, conversations and retail activities.
