AGC Flat Glass Italia, a branch of AGC Glass Europe – a leader in the production of plate glass – presented positive economic results for 2015 and the latest developments of the group. Enrico Ceriani, Senior Director Primary Sales & Strategic Marketing AGC Glass Europe, illustrated the results, while Saul Papaleo, International Building Projects Manager AGC Glass Europe, talked about new trends in building enclosures as well as some of the latest achievements of AGC.

“Today we would like first of all to talk about one of our passions, the passion for glass,” Ceriani said, presenting the numbers of AGC Group, a multinational operating in 30 countries with about 50,000 workers, and a leader in the production of glass for architecture and furnishings, the automotive sector and displays, as well as chemical products, materials and high-tech components.

“Glass is a material rich in resources,” Ceriani continued. “In fact, it guarantees excellent thermal and acoustic insulation performance, high sunscreen levels and protection for goods and people. It is also environmentally friendly because it is natural and infinitely recyclable. But above all it is a magical material: thanks to its transparency it can eliminate barriers between inside and outside, guaranteeing wellbeing and maximum comfort in the home. These are precisely the characteristics that give glass an added value with respect to any other construction material.”

The Wedge Power – Cuneo project. Wedge Power is a company created for the construction and operation of a cogeneration plant and a connected district heating system, spread across a large part of the city of Cuneo. The plant, which will be built on an area owned by AGC, will be for combined production of electrical and thermal energy at the service of the factory in Cuneo and the future district heating network. Operation is slated to begin in the second half of 2017.

Finally, the speakers presented the world premiere of Coating on Demand, a new customizing process for glass. This is a unique technology, the only one of its kind in the world, an AGC exclusive, which allows designers to order custom glass developed based on specific aesthetic and performance needs. Thanks to “Coating on Demand” architects and designers will have the possibility of freely creating their own glass, choosing the color and the technical characteristics without having to resort to standard catalogue products.
