Lapo Elkann opens the doors of the headquarters of Garage Italia at Piazzale Accursio in Milan, inside the former Agip Supercortemaggiore filling station restored by the studio aMDL of Michele De Lucchi, containing a cafe and restaurant supervised by Carlo Cracco.
“Milan has the duty and honor of representing the flagship of Italian rebirth on the global scene, with active relationships with other cultural and business centers in the world. This is why I decided to create a space in which to sample and share the best of our country, bringing together examples of Italian excellence in the sector of creativity, design, motion and food,” Lapo Elkann explains.
Open every day from 9:30 to 2:00 AM, Garage Italia welcomes lovers of style and beauty in all its forms. The 1700 square meters are organized on two above-ground levels.
“At Piazzale Accursio a beautiful work of architecture seems ready to take flight. Visionary people will gather here, forerunners of the trends of tomorrow. Lapo Elkann has understood the value of this object that was abandoned for years, making an open architecture for all those who have the curiosity and desire to see beyond what already exists,” Michele De Lucchi said.
“This project has been very stimulating. Garage Italia is a magical container of fun, creativity, good food, passion, dreams. The cuisine is a tribute to Made in Italy, with absolute quality of the ingredients, the wealth of Italian and regional recipes, presented from a perspective of innovation and creativity by the chef Gabriele Faggionato under my direct supervision,” Carlo Cracco remarked.
