The new building, with an area of 9000 m2, has been completely reinvented to include the flagship store as well as 19 residential units luxuriously furnished by Armani/Casa, with interior design by Giorgio Armani. Work will begin in 2020 and be completed in 2023, also for the personal private residence of the fashion designer. The project is by the New York architecture firm Cookfox.
The project has been developed to blend into the context of Madison Avenue and the history of the zone. Natural materials like brick and limestone reflect those of the surrounding buildings. The new structure will feature a series of recessed terraces that add a sense of movement to the volume, creating a separation from the street and a visual connection to Central Park.
The team also includes consultants based in New York specializing in historical conservation – Higgins, Quasebarth and Partners – and urban planning – Greenberg Traurig, LLP, to ensure a perfect fit with the spirit of the Upper East Side.
