Berberè opens in Milan. The new venue of the brothers Matteo and Salvatore Aloe is at Via Sebenico 21, in the Isola neighborhood, and replaces what was a historic community cooperative founded in 1911: Circolo Filippo Sassetti.
The Berberè project began in 2010 in Bologna, with the aim of rethinking pizza through an accent on craftsmanship, keeping its pop spirit without gourmet snobbery while focusing on the best ingredients, experimentation with flours and dough, and the decor of the outlets.
The architectural design by Arch. Giambattista Gherzi of Rizoma, who also did the venues in Florence and Turin, combines warm and cool hues with humble materials like square tiles, as well as noble finishes like Carrara, Cipollino and Fior di Pesco Carnico marble.
