A marvelous loft facing one of the canals of the city was recently renovated by Houtwerk BV, based on a project by the studio Witteveen Architects.

In the Canal House metropolitan style is introduced in the context of a historical setting that conserves its most characteristic features.

The typical brick walls of the industrial era in which the building was made are inserted in large spaces that grant a sensation of freedom and movement, where the whiteness of HI-MACS® acrylic stone lights up the space, skillfully mixed with metals, woods and glass, for an original, warm and welcoming result.

Minimalism and clean forms make this house the ideal container for simple furnishings with strong personality. Some have been custom made using HI-MACS® in the Alpine White tone.

The master bedroom has been constructed as an extension of the existing loft, updated in tune with the image and materials used in the rest of the apartment. HI-MACS® has been used to make the balustrade and the doors with built-in handles.

The bathroom towards the back of the space has been ‘constructed’ in HI-MACS®: from the walls to the floor, the shower to the washstand and the tub, perfectly built into the wall, as if it were an integral part of the structure.

In this project everything is designed to convey a sensation of welcome. A timeless dwelling in the ‘Venice of the north’ featuring striking contrasts of colors and materials.
