The result of the “Enoteca dai Tosi design contest” with the participation of the studios of Francesco Librizzi, Andrea Caputo, Muller van Severen, StudioErrante Architetture and architecten de vylder vinck taillieu, Enoteca dai Tosi opens its doors in Matera, the city that will be a European Cultural Capital in 2019.

 

The wine shop is on three levels, and becomes a place perfectly inserted in the history and time of the city, inside a natural grotto typical of the city of Matera.

 

The architect Jan De Vylder, partner of the studio architecten de vylder vinck taillieu which won the competition, the main challenge was to invent something by starting with the existing historical and cultural heritage of the site.

The facility features staircases in tuff stone, earthenware tiles and twisting handrails, with local shades of green and beige, and local materials like stone and wood.
