The prizes Architetto Italiano 2018 and Giovane Talento dell’Architettura Italiana 2018 were assigned today by the Consiglio Nazionale degli Architetti, Pianificatori, Paesaggisti e Conservatori, with the network of provincial associations, during the traditional Festa dell’Architetto.
At its sixth iteration, the Premio Architetto Italiano went to Map Studio – Francesco Magnani and Traudy Pelzel – for the Tramway Terminal project for Piazzale Roma in Venice.
The jury chaired by the architect Dominique Perrault was impressed by the elegant, measured contemporary language applied in terms of technological research and attention to detail.
The Orizzontale collective – Giuseppe Grant, Margherita Manfra, Nasrin Mohiti Asli, Roberto Pantaleoni, Stefano Ragazzo – won the Premio Giovane Talento dell’Architettura Italiana for Progetto 8½ in Rome.
The project with its complex, mature language, form and functional quality focuses on the mobile construction of a public space. The creative use of humble materials accentuates the fresh approach of a multifunctional work of architecture that gives rise to a space for gathering or recreation.

For the New Constructions category, Roberto Mascazzini and Gino Guarnieri for the project Sei case in linea in Sesto San Giovanni (Milan).
In the section on Restoration a mention went to the architecture firm Bergmeisterwolf Architekten – Gerd Bergmeister and Michaela Wolf – for the project Cantina Hotel Pacherhof located at Novacella-Varna (Bolzano).
The perfect density, an installation by Migliore + Servetto Architects – Ico Migliore and Mara Servetto – gained an honorable mention in the Installations and Interiors section.
Map Studio, winner of the Premio Architetto Italiano, received a mention for the category Open spaces, infrastructures and landscape.
In the Design area, inserted for the first time, the mention went to Aris Architects – Alberto Corrado, Francesca Zalla, Hani Chaouech – for the project Archetipo.
