The Louvre Abu Dhabi opens to the public on 11 November 2017. Designed by the French architect Jean Nouvel as a city-museum (medina) under a vast silvery dome, this is the first museum of its kind in the Arab world: a universal exhibition that focuses on shared human histories through different civilizations and cultures.

The opening ceremony features a wide range of programs and initiatives open to the public, including symposia, performances, concerts, dance and visual arts.

The Louvre presents a range of items from its collections, along with loans from selected French museums.

The museum will also program temporary exhibitions, and features a children’s museum, an auditorium, a restaurant, a boutique and a cafe.
