Morelato, the Italian cabinet making firm based in Verona, has signed an important contract for the Blakes Restaurant in London, in the heart of Kensington.

The recently opened venue is inside Blakes, a boutique luxury hotel known around the world for its elegance.

The project by Anouska Hempel recreates the retro atmosphere of a steamship on the Bosporos, in keeping with the adventurous spirit of the interior designer.

The sophisticated and eclectic setting of the restaurant, which serves refined Mediterranean cuisine, features exclusive pieces like the ones created by Morelato. The Italian company has provided custom solutions for Blakes: tables, chairs and bar stools, made with fine woods and unique details.

The tables have round inserts in maple briar and ebonized wood. The turned solid maple bases have lion-paw feet, carved entirely by hand.

The seating in the dining room is in solid maple with contrasting black wood inserts. For the bar, Morelato has supplied seating with shaped and padded armrests and turned black wooden legs. The stools have solid brass footrests.
