The Rubner Group: German precision and Italian creativity

Now at its fourth generation, the Rubner Group – which reported 316 million in sales in 2017  represents a unique reality on the Italian scene, with 90 years of experience, 1300 employees and over 25,000 completed residences.

The group has over 20 companies, with facilities in Italy, Austria, Germany and France and 55% of income from outside of Italy.

It is unique because it combines two virtues: the German precision and timing, Italian creativity and originality.

The company began in a sawmill at Chienes (Bolzano), and now covers the entire production chain for wood.

The wood is cut in keeping with standards of sustainability and transformed into products that range from houses and doors to the design and implementation of large structural projects in laminated wood, including multistory buildings, schools, sheds, industrial plants and offices, shopping centers, convention centers, gyms, stadiums, warehouses and hotels.

The group has five sectors of activity:

wood industryRubner Holzindustrie, specializing in structural wood, and Nordpan, a European reference point for the production of solid wood

-wooden structures: Rubner Holzbau makes large architectural works in wood

-major turnkey projects: Rubner Objektbau

-wooden houses: Rubner Haus, a producer of houses in wood, and holzius, specialized in bio-construction in solid wood

-wood doors: Rubner Porte

With sales of 54 million euros in 2017, 300 employees and an average of 250 houses built each year, Rubner Haus is the true core of the group.

The new development this year is the Studio concept that offers clients, designers and architects complete freedom in an approach to the home, including new services like the design of outdoor areas or other special requests that require the support of a project manager, which Rubner Haus already gets involved in the project from the phase of estimates to the entire path of design and construction.

“Our main counterparts are the architect and the designer – says Deborah Zani, member of the board of Rubner Haus – both in cases in which the design happens with the usual Rubner Haus system, offering the client a wide range of options and technical solutions, with which to define finishes, colors and materials down to the level of details, and in cases in which the design is done with the Studio system, which requires a more complex technical level for complete customization.”

Both systems reflect the essential characteristics of Rubner Haus’s way of building:

-the use of natural materials like cork and wood fiber

thermal insulation

-every Rubner Haus has certification of a 30-year guarantee

flexibility of wall systems that can be expanded or reconfigured at will, also in the future, and reach the worksite already outfitted with electrical and plumbing systems, permitting enormous savings in terms of time in the assembly phase

variety of design solutions for indoor and outdoor surfaces

natural anti-seismic quality determined by lightness, elasticity, high mechanical strength, capacity to disperse energy

security of times and costs: any cost overruns outside the estimate provided by contract are covered by Rubner Haus

ecosustainability: the use of ecological construction materials guarantees high energy efficiency

respect for the environment: 100%natural and ecosustainable, Rubner wood comes from controlled and sustainable Alpine forests
