Room Mate Hotels opens its fourth hotel in Barcelona, Room Mate Anna, conceived as one of the flagship hotels of the chain. Located on Passeig de Gràcia – better known as the Quadrat d’Or, the center of the Catalan modernism, the heart of the cultural life in Barcelona – the unit has 81 rooms in four different categories: basic, standard, deluxe and junior suite. It has a spectacular terrace and a circular pool on the roof, with wonderful views of Casa Batllo and the Agbar Tower.

In line with the strong commitment of Room Mate Hotels to promote avant-garde design and architecture, the interiors of Room Mate Anna have been assigned to the interior designer and antiques expert Lorenzo Castillo who decided to pay homage to sunlight and the Mediterranean Sea.

The building, in a modernist style and property of Alting Grupo Inmobiliario, has undergone a complex transformation with the commitment to preserve it and integrate it into the surrounding environment, transforming it into a luxury hotel asset also thanks to its exceptional location.

The interior design project by Lorenzo Castillo marks a turning point on the design scene in Barcelona, as it introduces a totally new concept.

The hotel stands out for its explosion of color, combining the nuances of the Catalan landscape with the shades of turquoise and aquamarine of Palamós, and the earthy or green hues of the cypresses of Empordà. A new hotel, young and international, with deep intellectual roots.

The central theme is the Mediterranean Sea, with ruby corals of Trapani and large seashells. Local architectural elements have also been employed, such as Venetian blinds to create doors of cabinets and headboards for the rooms. Sophisticated and timeless materials have been selected, like the colored marble floors, the wood paneling and bright metals like the brass of the sconces, and the large lamps of the dining room. Fabrics in fresh colors – white, red, blue, black and green – help to create a contemporary look.
