At Teatro Agorà, in the Triennale Design Museum, Fondazione Aldo Morelato presented the winning project of the competition “Il mobile significante” 2015.

“It is the Clover seat, designed by Mariya Dlugoboroskaya, a Russian architect from St. Petersburg. A seat that changes position, rotating at different angles for the back. It will be launched at the next Salone del Mobile in Milan,” said Giorgio Morelato, art director of the family firm and president of the foundation.

This was also the moment to present a series of previews for the next Salone: the Inge armchair and chair (design Centro Ricerche MAAM), the Carambola table (design Maurizio Duranti), and the Rotolino stool (design Libero Rutilo).

The designer Libero Rutilo of the studio DesignLibero explained his new project: “Conceived for small homes, it is a multifunctional object that can be transformed from a stool into a chaise longue, thanks to padded fabric that opens on the seat. It also has an object caddie in wood, inserted directly in the seat.”

The latest arrival in the collection of the museum MAAM (Museo delle Arti Applicate nel Mobile) at Villa Dionisi in Cerea (Verona) was also presented: the chair-sculpture Nikko by Andrea Branzi in pearwood with small circular wenge wood inlays.

Finally, the 13th edition of the international competition “Il Mobile Significante” organized by Fondazione Aldo Morelato was announced, with the theme Furnishing objects for collective spaces.

The new edition of the competition Il Mobile Significante starts a biennial schedule. The foundation, under the artistic direction of the architect Ugo La Pietra, has decided to extend the period to improving programming of the activities connected with the competition, and to give more time to the participants to prepare and submit their projects. The deadline for submissions is now May 2017.

The competition is aimed at Italian and foreign professional designers and students at schools of design and architecture. Only original projects will be examined, selected by a jury together with the president of Fondazione Aldo Morelato, Giorgio Morelato.
